Originally from Vermont, Dr. Gabby has lived in the Bay Area for the past four years. A recent graduate from Life Chiropractic College West, Dr. Gabby specializes in working with kids of all ages and is excited to work with you and your family.

Life is full of stressors, whether that be physical traumas, mental thoughts, emotional stress or chemical toxins. Stiff low back? Low back pain? Sit a lot for work? Try this psoas stretch out!

I give this stretch to my members multiple times a week and it is great at stretching the hard to get psoas muscle.

Your psoas is a deep hip flexor that works to move your hips, legs and lower back. It attaches to four of your lumbar vertebrae, runs down around the front of your pelvis and to the side of your femur. It is a common culprit of low back pain and stiffness. If you come in for a visit - it is rare that we don’t work on this!

Try it at home:
▫️ Kneel with one knee down and the other forward, keeping knee aligned above ankle
▫️ Squeeze the glute of knee that is down, tucking pelvis up and back - this is a KEY step!
▫️ Continue squeezing, leaning forward slightly until you feel a stretch
▫️ Lift arm (same side of knee that is down) and lean to the side and back 45 degree
▫️ Don’t forget to breaaaaaaathe!

There are SO many things that can tax our nervous system 👉🏼

▫️Physical - this is the way we treat our bodies. Being very active is great but can be tough on the body. The same if we are stationary. There may also be trauma from falls, car accidents, collisions, broken bones and birth.

Since there are so many approaches, how do we know what’s best for you?

Do you know what chiropractic is? Or why it’s important?

Let’s break it down:

Let’s talk about reactive vs. proactive chiropractic care 🤓

The difference between the two is a simple question 👉🏼 Do you want to wait and see if symptoms show up or do you want to feel GOOD in your body by taking care of it from the start?

When symptoms show, that is our body talking to us. They are often the last thing to show up when things are off. By waiting until we see a symptom or feel pain, we are missing out on so much time where we could be feeling GOOD.

Upper trap, shoulder and back tightness? Try this out👇🏼

Hands down the most common exercise I give to people at home is this right here.

Nearly everyone can benefit from this but I’ve found it to be a fan favorite in those that work at a desk often, breastfeeding moms, new parents getting used to carrying little one in all positions, workout enthusiasts, and those carrying that stress.

These yoga therapy balls/lacrosse balls are a great way to get into those hard to reach places.

Try it out:
▫️Grab some yoga therapy balls or place a lacrosse ball in a sock.
▫️Find a solid flat surface (can be a wall or the floor).
▫️Place ball over tight muscle area and lean against your surface.
▫️Walk feet forward to be able to move the ball up and down.
▫️When you find a tight spot - hold there for 10-20 seconds or 5 slow breaths.
▫️Repeat 3-5 times.
▫️To make stretch deeper, add arm movement out to the side. Move in any direction that helps to find relief.

That mind-body connection 🧘🏻‍♀️

Our mind is often go, go, go and it can be hard to slow it down. This can be a result of stress (work, life, finances, etc) that brings us into more of a sympathetic state. This is commonly known as our fight or flight response.

This response is excellent when it comes to saving us from dangerous situations but more often than not, it is activated waaaay more than we want it to be.

How can we manage this better?

Chiropractic adjustments help to balance your nervous system into a more parasympathetic state or “rest and digest” mode. By balancing the nervous system, we are able to slow down, find a sense of calm, and handle those stressful situations with (more) ease.

✨ SOT Blocks - these are used as a gentle way to adjust your pelvis. They allow your body and muscles to settle into balance.

✨ IASTM Scraping Tool *Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization* - this tool is amazing for breaking up scar tissue and creating improved blood flow to an area to help heal and recover.

✨ Drop Piece - this tool is great for working with extremities, especially the feet and wrists. It is very gentle and uses a quick drop force to assist in the adjustment of these areas.

✨ Massage Gun - great for reducing muscle tension and assisting in relaxation.

✨ Activator - a gentle tool used for all ages. This is used for adjustments of the spine as well as assisting the muscles to relax.

What goes into a new member visit?

✨Full history - We will cover a full history on any current concern(s) that you have at present. We’ll also go into full depth into events that happened in the past that may or may not be contributing to present day concerns.

✨Postural Analysis - We will take photos of your posture so that we have a baseline of how you carry your body. This can tell us a lot about how your brain carries you through space everyday.

✨Neurospinal Exam - Here we gather information about your spine and it’s function through orthopedic, neurological and range of motion testing. This helps to connect the dots with your history + posture.

Why not?! But for real, I get this question a lot and it’s my favorite one to answer.

Kids often have other things going on other than the word that people commonly look for 👉🏼 pain. Or what I prefer to call dysfunction.

When adjusting kids, chiropractors look to see how they are developing, have they hit milestones, have they outgrown primitive reflexes, how is their coordination, how is their balance, their stress, their overall well-being?

*We look at SO much more than you may think*

Dysfunction in babies looks different than kids which is completely different than adults. But surprise - it’s all connected! ✨
